New trim, lovely mantle, and a walk with the dead

Our contractor has been plowing full steam ahead with our renovation. It’s down to the details and finishing touches now. Last week, I showed you our kitchen progress:

The window above the sink is a bit noticeable with its dark frame and lack of trim. After a week of work, it looks a heck of a lot better:

Still some painting to do, but the trim really finishes off the space. You might also notice the crown molding in that picture. It’s all up and looks amazing! As is the baseboard. Here are a few before and after shots:

Entryway with painting finished, molding up, and old, broken alarm system boxes removed.

Patio and garage door in the back corner of our main level. The drywall has been repaired above the patio door, but hasn’t been painted yet. I’m also planning on painting the garage door white, but that’s it. That list is so small compared to what it used to be!!

Along with the trim, another wood feature was added this week…a new mantle. The old one was in great shape, but just wasn’t my preference. I plan on selling it, so it will, hopefully, get reused. Here’s a before and after:

Sorry, the only before picture I could find was from our winter themed drizzle. The new mantle is real hardwood and adds a little rustic yet modern feel to the space. I love it. I also have big plans for the fireplace cover. We’ll see how that turns out.

So, that’s the progress. It’s coming along beautifully.

Unrelated to the house, I hope you got out to enjoy the spring-like weather we’ve been having. We went for a walk through the cemetery over the weekend. Morbid? Perhaps. But it was really lovely as well

And these guys had a blast.

Where was Colin?

Passed out on daddy on Mimi’s couch. Cuteness.
